What to Expect the First Day

These procedures are based on the 2020-2021 protocols. Please note procedures are subject to change according to LTISD policy.

Morning Arrival:

• You may walk your child to his/her teacher in the outdoor classroom on the first day. The following days your child will independently walk to his/her classroom. We will have teachers at the side gate to direct students.
• Exterior doors will be unlocked at 7:20 daily. Students who are car riders, let themselves out of the car on the side next to the curb.
• If there is a mask requirement, please have your child wear his/her mask as they exit the car each morning.

Afternoon Departure:

School departure is at 3:00 p.m. At dismissal, please wait at your designated pick up spot for your child.

• K-2 students are considered “car riders” if they are to wait in the school for the parent to drive through the car rider line. Students will be dismissed to you by an LWE teacher/monitor. K-2 students are assigned to the lower parking lot that wraps directly in front of the school.
• If K-2 car rider has a 3-5 car rider sibling, the older sibling will be dismissed from his/her class to wait with the younger sibling.
• If the student is a bus rider, the teacher will escort each child to their designated bus.
• Extended care students will be escorted to Extended Care check-in by the teacher.

Friendly Reminders

• Every classroom will have one “snack time” during the day. Please provide a non refrigerated / non spoon-requiring healthy snack in a zip-locked bag labeled with your child’s name.
• Students need to bring a labeled water bottle each day that is separate from their lunch drink.
• At the beginning of the year, we will have a quiet/rest time during the day. Please send a SMALL CRIB SIZED blanket and a SMALL CRIB SIZED pillow. Due to limited space, both items must fit inside your child’s zipped backpack.
• Please put a gallon sized baggie in your child’s backpack with the following: shorts, shirt, socks, underwear (that can stay at school). You never know what can happen during the day in the life of a kindergartner!
